Keanna Marcelo, Environmental Science (2025), Surveying the Woody Vegetation across Powdermill Nature Reserve to Track Change Over Time
The Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation was pleased to present a unique summer research opportunity in partnership with the Carnegie Museum of Natural History at their facility at the Powdermill Nature Reserve. This full time program ran for 12 weeks over the 2025 summer. The participating student, Keanna Marcelo (Environmental Science) completed a project titled Surveying the Woody Vegetation across Powdermill Nature Reserve to Track Change Over Time. Keanna worked helped to track changes in the forest that may have resulted from climate change or invasive species using data such as species composition and size of trees and shrubs.
