Jacob King

  • Assistant Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Jack graduated with a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University. His work focused on electrochemical reduction of halogenated organic contaminants in water using carbon-based cathodes. Jack grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and received his undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering from Duke University in 2016 and an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford in 2017. Jack is interested in applying electrochemical systems to remove emerging contaminants (e.g., pesticides and metal chelates) in various water matrices, such as reverse osmosis concentrate generated from potable reuse of municipal wastewater. He studies electrochemical reduction of halogenated contaminants in water applying activated carbon electrodes and ozone treatment to remove emerging contaminants (e.g., pesticides) in reverse osmosis concentrate.
