The John C. Mascaro Faculty program is designed to enhance the university’s mission of interdisciplinary excellence in sustainability research and education. The goal of these awards is to elevate sustainability across Pitt’s academic landscape and catalyze new cross-disciplinary collaborations.

John C. Mascaro Faculty Fellowships assist faculty in expanding sustainability throughout the University and/or in partnership with external stakeholders. Fellows play key roles in the support and expansion of University-wide sustainability education programs, as well as in catalyzing growth in the University’s sustainability research portfolio.
John C. Mascaro Faculty Scholarships assist faculty seeking to broaden sustainability education and research, either at the University school/college level or within their discipline. Mascaro Faculty Scholars play key roles in supporting interdisciplinary sustainability education programs within a University school/college, as well as catalyzing growth in sustainability research within their school or field.
John C. Mascaro Faculty Lectureships assist faculty looking to incorporate sustainability into a class or program or jumpstart a new sustainability-based initiative. Mascaro Faculty Lecturers are essential to engaging students in sustainability at the University.
