Become a Summer Sustainability Research Advisor

As part of MCSI's vibrant Summer Sustainability Research Program (SRP), we welcome faculty partners who are interested in serving as advisors for the summer of 2026. We are currently working to identify research projects for our 2026 cohort.  Faculty are welcome to submit a maximum of two sustainability-focused projects for consideration.

Students are paid $5,500 by MCSI and work full-time over a 10-week period (May 18-July 24, 2026) for the faculty advisor. The student application portal will open in January 2026. The program is open to undergraduate and master's students.

For the first time ever, we are offering four thematic research cohorts, which will create opportunities to connect and collaborate with unique networks over the summer. These cohorts include the Pittsburgh Water Collaboratory, Responsible Data Science, and Sustainable Healthcare, as well as our annual Open Call for Sustainability Research across all disciplines.

Applications to be an advisor for the 2026 cohort are closed. Please check back in Fall 2026 for the 2027 cohort application.
